Denison Mobility is proud to announce the completion of a new EV charging installation at Butler University, marking a milestone project for the City of Indianapolis and a first for Denison Mobility. Completed in June, this installation brought six new charging stations to Butler’s campus: four in the southwest corner of the Hinkle Fieldhouse parking lot and two on the first floor of the Sunset Avenue parking garage.
Reactivated EV Chargers at Hinkle Fieldhouse Lot
What makes this project stand out is the story behind the Hinkle Fieldhouse location. This site was a former BlueIndy charging station, part of Indianapolis’s electric car-share network that shut down in 2018 which resulted in unused charging infrastructure. Denison Mobility worked with the City of Indianapolis and AES to reactivate the site, installing new chargers and pedestals on the existing infrastructure already in place. It’s the first BlueIndy site the city has approved for reactivation, and Denison Mobility is the first to complete an install on one.
Making the Most of What’s Already There
Reactivating existing infrastructure instead of building new means a faster installation timeline and real savings for the client, without sacrificing reliability or performance. It’s a model the City of Indianapolis is looking to expand, with additional BlueIndy sites across the city eligible for the same treatment. Denison Mobility’s full-service approach, from planning through installation and ongoing management, made Butler’s campus an ideal proving ground for this kind of project.
